Karpaty Lviv captain Roman Vantukh told Sport.ua (published 1 October 2026) that Dynamo Kyiv’s academy shaped his game and “gave me almost everything I know.” He credited work with Spanish youth coaches Unai Melgosa and Vicente Gomez for teaching him to think about the game rather than just run, and named Ukrainian staff who also influenced his development.
Vantukh said he trained with Dynamo’s first team under Oleksandr Khatskevich, had a single training session with Serhiy Rebrov when he was very young, and twice travelled on camps with Mircea Lucescu but was sidelined by injury and couldn’t secure a place. He remained in Dynamo’s system from 2015 until 2022 but never debuted for the senior side before moving on via loan spells and later signing for Karpaty, where he is now a team leader.
