Roman Vantukh, a defender now playing for Karpaty, told Sport.ua on 1 October 2026 that Dynamo Kyiv “played a key role” in his career. Vantukh said the academy gave him almost everything he knows and praised several coaches who influenced his development.
He singled out Spanish youth coaches Unai Melgosa and Vicente Gomez, and later coaches Yuriy Moroz and Serhiy Shmatovalenko. Vantukh also trained with Dynamo’s first team under Oleksandr Khatskevich, had a single session with Serhiy Rebrov when he was very young, and twice joined Mircea Lucescu’s training camps but missed chances to secure a place because of injuries.
Vantukh remained in Dynamo’s system from 2015 until 2022 but did not debut for the club’s first team; after that period his career continued through loan moves. His comments underline Dynamo Kyiv’s continuing role in developing players who go on to leadership roles elsewhere in Ukrainian football.
