Kyiv’s city prosecutor has asked the Kyiv District Administrative Court to order the private owner of the historic house on Ihorivska Street to carry out repair and restoration works according to a scientific project drawn up and approved in line with the law. The court has opened proceedings on the prosecutor’s claim.
The building is associated with archaeologist Vikentiy Khvoyka, who lived there from 1898 to 1914. It dates to the late 19th–early 20th century, is executed in a Renaissance style, and was entered into Ukraine’s State Register of Immovable Monuments as a national historic monument in 2009. According to the prosecutor, the house has been privately owned since 2010 and the owner has failed for 16 years to meet legal requirements for protecting cultural heritage, leaving the structure in a neglected and emergency state.
Readers should follow official court releases or the prosecutor’s announcements for updates on any orders or timetables for restoration work.
