The Central Geophysical Observatory (Borys Sreznevsky) says meteorological autumn in Kyiv began on September 21, defined by a sustained fall of the mean daily air temperature below +15°C. That start date was five days later than the long-term average.

September’s mean temperature in Kyiv was +16.3°C, 1.4°C above the climatological norm. The month’s coldest morning occurred on September 23 with a minimum of +5.9°C, while the warmest day was September 10 with a maximum of +29.7°C. Rainfall measured at Prospekt Nauky totalled 86 mm, about 148% of the typical monthly amount.

Forecasters also warn of a rapid temperature fall in the Kyiv region in early October and “dangerous meteorological phenomena” expected at night and in the morning on October 1–3. Re-check local forecasts and travel advisories if you have plans for those dates.
