Silpo stores in Kyiv are selling a dozen chicken eggs for 39 UAH, according to reporting by Informator on October 4, 2026. That price is roughly half of some competitors: Varus at 52.90 UAH, Fora at 65.90 UAH, ATB at 68.90 UAH and Auchan at about 74 UAH per dozen.

Analysts cited by the report — referencing MinFin and AgroNews data via Znaj — say Silpo’s price fell from roughly 59.91 UAH to about 39.19 UAH, while the countrywide average price band for an egg pack remains near 78.99–84.25 UAH. Financial analyst Oleksiy Kush told the outlet that logistics and fuel costs can account for a large share of food prices and proposed a reduced VAT on staple goods as one possible stabilizer.

Experts warn the drop may be temporary: recent logistical disruptions, including attacks on warehouses and changes in supply chains, have produced volatile prices between chains. Shoppers should compare prices and availability in store, as promotions, stock levels and local supply decisions are driving the current price spread.
