Kyiv's largest CHP plants not expected to be restored before winter, expert warns AI

An expert told UNIAN (14 Aug 2026) that Kyiv's most powerful combined heat-and-power plants — CHP-5, CHP-6 and Darnytsia CHP-4 — will not be returned to service before the coming winter because of equipment problems. If these three major CHPs remain offline, Kyiv's energy system will face greater strain this winter. Residents could see increased pressure on district heating and electricity supply, and authorities may need to rely more on remaining plants, reserves or rolling measures to avoid cold-season outages.
