Oleksandr Lipenko’s OBOZ.UA blog recounts the two-legged 1975 UEFA Super Cup tie between Bayern Munich and Dynamo Kyiv. After a first-leg meeting in Munich (where Blokhin scored in the 67th minute), Dynamo completed the victory in Kyiv on 6 October 1975 when Oleg Blokhin converted after a foul on the 53rd minute, securing the aggregate win and the trophy for the Soviet club.
The match drew a famously large home crowd: the Central Stadium held about 102,000 spectators amid enormous demand — the sporting authorities recorded roughly 650,000 ticket requests in total. The Bayern delegation arrived in Kyiv on 5 October along with the 15-kilogram gold-and-silver Super Cup trophy, which reportedly cost about $20,000 to make; medals and diplomas briefly went missing in transit.
Contemporaries singled out Blokhin’s performance: Franz Beckenbauer is quoted praising him and calling Kyiv one of Europe’s top teams. Lipenko lists the Dynamo line-up from that night and reflects on the match’s place in the club’s history.
