Yuriy Virt assessed Ukraine’s 1-2 Nations League loss to Hungary, telling Footboom the final score was “undeserved.” He said he had expected a draw, and when Ukraine levelled in the 83rd minute he thought his prediction had come true — only for Hungary to score a short time later.
Virt singled out Ukraine’s defence as the main problem. He said the team concedes too easily and there is “chaos” in the penalty area, adding that defenders seem unsure of their roles. He also noted that while the first half was pleasing, the side failed to convert its advantage into goals and then paid the price in the second half.
The defeat dropped Ukraine to third place in their Nations League group with two matches remaining. According to the report, Ukraine trail Northern Ireland by four points and host them on November 14, before finishing the group against Georgia.
