A Kyiv blogger, Valeriya, wrote on Instagram about life in Bratislava after living there for four months. She highlights the city’s central location — she can reach Vienna in about one hour, Prague in two and Budapest in three — and says getting residency paperwork was relatively simple even for people who previously held temporary protection elsewhere in Europe.

She reports everyday costs that feel familiar to Kyiv residents: supermarket prices are close to Kyiv levels and local taxis cost roughly €4.60–4.90 (about 250 UAH). Valeriya and her partner rent a 78 m² apartment with a parking space and utilities for about €1,300–1,400 per month. She also estimates taxes and insurance at around €200.

On the downside, restaurants, beauty salons and medical services are noticeably more expensive, and she finds the slower pace of life and being away from family the hardest parts of living abroad. The report cites a sizable Ukrainian community in Slovakia — around 200,000 people — which eases the transition.
