Kyiv regional authorities warned on 7 October that six towns around the capital β Ivankiv, Vyshneve, Boyarka, Vasylkiv, Obukhiv and Brovary β experienced a temporary deterioration in air quality due to elevated levels of fine particulate dust. Specialists say prolonged exposure can cause breathing discomfort, especially for children, older adults and people sensitive to irritants.
Officials advised residents to keep windows closed, spend less time outdoors, drink plenty of water, and run air purifiers on high if available. The statement noted that in other Kyiv Oblast settlements monitored there were no exceedances of chemical or biological air-quality limits and that gamma radiation remains at natural background levels.
Atmospheric monitoring is carried out at 15 observation points across the region, including Brovary, Boryspil, Pereiaslav, Vyshhorod, Boyarka, Obukhiv, Kagarlyk, Bohuslav, Uzyn, Vasylkiv, Irpin, Vyshneve, Ivankiv, Velyka Dymerka and Pidgirtsi; the Bila Tserkva station is temporarily offline. The advisory was published via the regional administration and reported by national news outlets.
