Kyiv regional authorities have announced a new week-long stage of intensified control of road freight operations across Kyiv Oblast, running from 17 to 22 August 2026. The campaign will include teams from Ukrtransbezpeka, the Patrol Police, carriers handling oversized and heavy loads, and specialist units from the Kyiv OVA.
Officials say previous inspections showed roughly 25% of trucks breached legal norms and resulted in more than UAH 3.085 million in fines in a single week. Authorities singled out vehicle overloading as a major problem that increases accident risk and accelerates pavement deterioration, forcing extra repair spending.
The checks will also cover passenger carriers: the regional transport office is reviewing contracts with operators and warns that persistent violations could lead to contract termination. Local officials plan follow-up discussions in a “Transparency and Accountability” working group and may raise some safety issues before the regional Defence Council. Motorists and transport companies are advised to comply with weight rules and be prepared for roadside inspections.
