Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has appealed to Prime Minister Serhii Koretsky to accelerate the handover of Hostynyi Dvir to the city so emergency anti‑collapse and conservation work can begin. The appeal, reported by the Kyiv City State Administration and covered by Nash Kyiv on 14 August 2026, follows long-running negotiations over the building’s status.
The national‑significance monument on Podil is described as years in an emergency condition and continuing to deteriorate. A large part of the structure remains improperly conserved, and officials warned that lack of adequate waterproofing plus the shallow depth of nearby metro structures increases risks both to the historic building and to transport infrastructure below.
KMDA says the capital has the funds and technical expertise to carry out immediate stabilisation and conservation, prepare scientific project documentation, and then move to comprehensive restoration. The city says full intervention can proceed only after formal transfer of the property to municipal ownership; the issue has been under dialogue with the government since 2017.
