Bila Tserkva district authorities report that farms in the area are maintaining a herd of 34,501 head of cattle, including 15,106 cows — roughly 40% of Kyiv oblast’s total cattle stock. The update published 19 August 2026 says local agricultural producers concentrated this year not only on volumes but on the nutritional quality and storage of feeds.
Maize silage remains the main energy source; farmers selected hybrids with higher fiber digestibility and balanced starch content and used shredding equipment, including corn-crackers, to improve digestibility. For haylage they harvested alfalfa and grass‑legume mixes, wilting crops to about 45–55% moisture to preserve carotene and crude protein and reduce dry-matter losses.
Farms also prepared artificially dried hay and pressed cereal straw to support rumen function. The district administration says these combined feed types — silage for energy, haylage for protein and hay/straw for rumen health — form the base of the region’s year-round ration and require careful storage to retain nutritional value.
