Ukrainian Hockey Club Shershni have added experienced defenseman Kyrylo Bortnikov to their roster, the club’s press service announced. The team did not disclose the length or financial terms of the contract.
Bortnikov played last season for Kyiv’s Sokil and was part of the squad that won the Ukrainian championship. He is a product of the Kryvyi Rih hockey school and previously served as captain of Kherson’s Dnipro.
Shershni enter the national championship this season under coach Vadym Shakhraichuk. Their earlier signings include 24-year-old forward Yaroslav Panchenko (formerly with Kyiv Capitals); the squad also lists Yegor Sviatnenko, Maksym Vysotenko, Andriy Lisovyi, Andriy Baibarza, Nikita Lesnikov and Mykhailo Tsiura.
