New figures published in Glavcom, based on admissions data, show the most-applied-to universities in Kyiv during the 2026 admissions campaign. Across the capital there are 46 universities (26 state, 20 private) and a total of 378,308 applications. State universities collected 332,471 applications (about 87.9%); private institutions received 45,837 (12.1%).
The top 10 Kyiv universities by number of applications are: Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) — 49,397; Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv — 48,738; State Trade and Economic University — 33,982; Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University — 29,098; Kyiv University of Intellectual Property and Law — 27,266; National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine — 24,498; National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy — 18,276; Kyiv National Aviation University — 17,220; Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University — 15,769; and Ukrainian State University named after Mykhailo Drahomanov — 13,109. Kyiv University of Intellectual Property and Law is the only private university in the top five.
