Kyiv officials, via the municipal corporation Kyivavtodor, plan to announce a public procurement on Prozorro for the development of scientific and project documentation to restore the Yevhen O. Paton Bridge across the Dnipro. The design work will include engineering surveys, technical research and a detailed assessment of the bridge’s condition to define repair solutions and heritage‑sensitive measures.
The structure holds the status of a local architectural and urban planning monument. The bridge’s balance holder, the municipal enterprise KP "Kyivavtoshlyakhmist", will continue constant technical monitoring and routine maintenance while the documentation is prepared; vehicle movement on the crossing remains subject to restrictions to preserve load‑bearing capacity and safety.
The move comes amid contrasting expert views: a March 2026 technical meeting concluded further exploitation was possible with restrictions, but academic experts including Vyacheslav Bohdanov have warned the bridge—about 72 years old—has reached a critical condition, citing inspections that recorded significant defects and past emergency incidents in 2018–2019.
