On 24 August, Kyiv's central districts are subject to major security closures and checkpoints as official Independence Day ceremonies and visits by foreign delegations begin. Authorities have partially closed Saint Sophia and St. Michael's squares and nearby streets; a large stage, orchestra platform and LED screens are already installed on Sofia Square. Kyiv city authorities and the State Guard (UDO), supported by police, have partially closed and cordoned off the central part of the city on 24 August for official Independence Day ceremonies and the visits of foreign delegations. The most affected locations include Saint Sophia and St. Michael's squares and adjacent streets across Shevchenkivskyi, Pecherskyi, Podilskyi and Solomianskyi districts.

On Sofia Square crews have completed a large stage installation with backstage areas, a covered structure beside the bell tower, a raised platform for musicians or guests, an orchestra zone and several large LED screens for live broadcasting. Temporary fences and checkpoint points are in place around the government quarter and other central sites.

Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes: recommended detours include Yaroslaviv Val, Velyka Zhytomyrska, Bulvarno-Kudriavska, Bohdana Khmelnytskoho, Naberezhne Shose and Naberezhno-Khreshchatytska for transit around the centre. Kyivpastrans has altered trolleybus and bus routes through the city centre. Police ask residents and visitors to respect the restrictions and to heed any air-raid alerts.
