The Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA) has approved a recommended structure for the 2026/2027 school year in Kyiv. The official school year runs from September 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The first semester is scheduled for September 1–December 23, 2026, and the second semester for January 11–May 28, 2027, with the citywide "Last Bell" on May 28.
Scheduled school breaks are: autumn holidays October 26–November 1, 2026; winter holidays December 24, 2026–January 10, 2027; additional holidays for first graders February 15–21, 2027; and spring holidays March 22–28, 2027. From May 31 to June 30, schools may organise individual consultations, excursions, project work and special "knowledge clubs" to help pupils catch up.
The KMDA note says the form of instruction (in-person or remote) and the year's structure may change depending on the security situation. The recommendation also preserves a Ukrainian-studies component for children temporarily abroad and continues psychological support for participants in the education process. Parents should confirm final schedules and formats directly with their child’s school.
