The Kyiv Regional State Administration reported on 21 August 2026 that over 17,000 children will start first grade this school year in Kyiv oblast and that their families may make use of the regional “Pakunok shkolyara” program. The statement was issued by the head of the regional administration.
“Pakunok shkolyara,” usually translated as “school starter kit” or “schoolchild’s package,” is the programme referenced in the announcement; the regional administration says eligible families can receive support under it for children beginning first grade.
