Lutsk–Kyiv minibus overturns on Zhytomyr highway; seven hurt AI

On Tuesday 25 August a Volkswagen LT minibus on the Lutsk–Kyiv route overturned after colliding with a Chevrolet Aveo on the Kyiv–Chop road near Tsarivka at about 14:30. The driver of the car and six passengers from the minibus were taken to Zhytomyr regional hospital. The crash blocked traffic toward Kyiv at the 90 km mark of the Kyiv–Chop road; patrols organised reverse flow. Check routes if you travel the Lutsk–Kyiv corridor.

Police in Zhytomyr report that the collision happened on 25 August at around 14:30 on the 90th kilometre of the Kyiv–Chop (Kyiv–Chop) road, near the village of Tsarivka in Korostyshiv community. A Chevrolet Aveo travelling toward Kyiv struck a Volkswagen LT minibus that was moving in the same direction on the Lutsk–Kyiv route. The impact caused the minibus to overturn.

Seven people were injured: the driver of the Chevrolet and six passengers from the minibus. All were taken to Zhytomyr regional hospital, where they are receiving medical care. Local investigators from the Zhytomyr district police and the transport-crimes unit are at the scene and are establishing the circumstances of the crash.

Because of the accident, traffic toward Kyiv on that section was temporarily closed; patrol officers organised a reverse traffic pattern to manage the flow while the response continued.
