After three rounds Karpaty Lviv and Shakhtar Donetsk lead the table with nine points; Zorya, Dynamo and Polissya sit behind them. At the other end, Chornomorets and Kolos have yet to gain points. The competition rules in the preview note that the bottom two teams will be relegated and the next two will contest promotion/relegation playoffs. Dynamo Kyiv still has a game in hand on some rivals, according to the table published with the fixtures.
