Preparation for the 2026/27 heating season has pushed demand for firewood up across Ukraine, with private sellers in Kyiv and Kyiv region offering oak at roughly 3,700–4,500 UAH per cubic metre. State forestry prices remain lower (about 1,390 UAH/m³ for hardwood), but buyers should factor in delivery and processing costs. Kyiv households face the country’s highest private prices; compare state-lists from Lisy Ukrainy, check wood dryness, and confirm delivery and measurement before ordering.

Ukrainians started buying firewood earlier than usual ahead of the 2026/27 heating season. Private sellers in Kyiv and Kyiv region are offering oak firewood at roughly 3,700 UAH per cubic metre on average, with some listings reaching 4,500 UAH/m³. By contrast, state enterprise Lisy Ukrainy lists hardwood at about 1,390 UAH/m³, conifers at roughly 1,120 UAH/m³, and softleaf species near 950 UAH/m³.

Sales volumes have more than doubled year-on-year: nearly 1.1 million cubic metres were sold to households and social institutions by the end of May 2026, versus about 534,000 m³ in the same period of 2025. For a 50–70 m² house, estimated seasonal needs are around 5.4–8.4 m³, which at private prices would cost about 20,000–31,000 UAH, or roughly 7,500–11,700 UAH at average state rates before added services.

Buyers should clarify the wood’s moisture, the exact method used to calculate a “cubic metre” (stacked, solid or loose), length of logs, and whether chopping, loading and delivery are included, since these services can add substantially to the final price.
