Kyiv City State Administration has announced that, starting 1 September, pupils of Kyiv general education schools will again travel free on municipal transport. The concession covers buses, trams, trolleybuses, the metro, the funicular and the city electric train. The benefit requires a student travel pass and mandatory validation when boarding.
Families can get or renew an electronic student pass in the Kyiv Digital app using a profile confirmed through Diia or BankID; the app can generate a digital student card immediately after the school confirms the pupil’s details. Parents may order a plastic student card for 120 UAH (production up to one month). Digital and plastic cards share the same number and balance; lost plastic cards can be blocked instantly in the app.
Only the pupil may use the benefit from their smartphone, so parents should provide the card number and PIN to the child. The app supports quick-access QR tickets (up to five per 30 minutes, up to 20 per day) and an optional parental control feature that sends validation notifications and shows the child’s trip history.
Kyiv schools are planning a mixed in-person and remote format for the first week of the school year and may adjust arrangements depending on the security situation.
