Glavcom reports that unusually heavy rains have triggered a high mushroom season across Kyiv region, with Vyshhorod and Bucha districts leading in yields. Local foragers name specific productive spots: Ivankiv and nearby stands in Vyshhorod district; Klavdiievo-Tarasove and nearby woods in Bucha district; Velyka Dymerka in Brovary district; Yablunivka in Bila Tserkva district; and the outskirts of Pereiaslav in Boryspil area.
The catch now includes aspen boletes (red-capped boletes), birch boletes, slippery jacks, moss-associated boletes (locally “babky”), field button mushrooms, oak boletes, russulas, chanterelles and occasional porcini. Glavcom repeats medical warnings: never eat unidentified mushrooms, avoid overripe or wormy specimens, do not collect near roads or industrial sites (they absorb heavy metals), cook and boil mushrooms the day of harvest, and do not feed wild mushrooms to children under 12.
