Serhiy Kryvtsov, an ex-defender of the Ukraine national team, told Sport.ua that while Georgia are a well-drilled side, Ukraine are the favourites on the basis of player class and overall qualification. He warned the contest will be tough and compared the expected intensity to Ukraine’s recent match against Hungary.
Kryvtsov singled out Kvicha Kvaratskhelia as a standout opponent but said finding ways to nullify him is mainly a matter for head coach Andrea and his staff. He also mentioned that, in his view, Ukraine have capable flank options who could cover Georgia’s attacking threats, noting Illya Krupskyi as an example despite Krupskyi not making the matchday squad.
The Group B Nations League fixture between Georgia and Ukraine takes place in Tbilisi on 28 September, starting at 19:00 Kyiv time.
