Workers at the Darnytsia tram depot are carrying out a capital overhaul on the third Tatra T3 tram refurbished in 2026. The work, performed by Kyivpasstrans staff, has included ultrasonic diagnostics, metalworking, welding, painting and replacement of electrical components and heating elements.
During the overhaul the tram receives a modernized driver control panel, new electrical equipment, upgraded heating, tinted windows, a replaced staircase with yellow warning strips, new passenger seats and handrails, fiberglass wall linings, energy-saving lighting, a passenger information system and air conditioning. Interior fit-out currently includes a new ceiling and replacement of rails and seats, officials said.
City officials say a full capital repair should extend a Tatra T3's service life by about ten years. A fourth tram is already being prepared for overhaul, while parallel updates are underway at the Podil and Taras Shevchenko depots.
